Description:
PROJECT BACKGROUND: This pilot project is being funded in part by the Government of Canada and the Alberta Lottery Fund. It leverages the expertise, facilities and resources of Potential Place Society, The Community Kitchen Program of Calgary and the Calgary Dream Centre. The participants that will take part in this training program are all presently living with a mental health issue and consequently may be at risk of homelessness. The goal of Moving Forward is to improve the lives and raise their employability of all participants by offering them opportunities to increase their “Essential Skills” and also provide them with the necessary supports in order to assist them in finding permanent part time employment. In addition to providing participants with the Essential and Life Skills necessary, this project will also provide “hands on” Warehouse Skills Training in order to adequately prepare participants for employment opportunities in the food warehousing industry.
