| Bilingual Senior Policy Advisor Position Details: Spherion has an immediate opening in downtown Ottawa for a Bilingual Senior Policy Advisor with a Government Agency client. The role of the Senior Policy Advisor is to provide strategic advice and oversight on all programs and related corporate issues, and to manage specific projects in that capacity. Job Reference Code: 698 Position Title: Senior Policy Advisor Position Type: Indeterminate - Full Time Location: Downtown Ottawa Application Deadline: 6/20/08 Classification: ES-06 Salary Range: $84,361 - $96,946 Language Requirements: Bilingual imperative CBC/CBC Security Level: Reliability Education: Master’s degree in a relevant area such as Economics, Environmental Studies or Political Science, or equivalent relevant years of experience. Experience: • Extensive experience (minimum of eight years) in the development of environmental and/or economic policy; • Recent experience in providing strategic policy advice to senior levels of public and/or private sector organizations; • Project management experience; • Experience in managing stakeholders relations. Knowledge: • Expert knowledge of Canadian environmental and economic issues and their relationship to Canadian economic, political and industrial contexts; • Extensive knowledge of Canadian environmental policy; • Good knowledge of the policy development process in a political context; • Good knowledge of research techniques associated with environment and economy issues; Abilities/Skills: • Ability to define strategies and program objectives for specific environment/economy initiatives; • Ability to effectively manage science-based research projects; • Ability to think strategically and contribute to policy strategies and planning; • Ability to integrate experience, resources, skills and networks to successfully direct project and program design, planning, financing and evaluation; • Ability to identify emerging issues and assess related political and policy implications; • Ability to coordinate multiple projects and initiatives; • Ability to critically assess and integrate comprehensive information in complex policy areas related to environment and economy, in order to formulate policy options and recommendations; • Ability to contribute to the development of communication strategies.; • Ability to communicate effectively with senior officials both orally and in writing.
