Quotes from past staff when asked for suggestions to improve our ad:
AM - “Hi Ed! personally, I always found being outside a great advantage. Not sure how you could include that. I will always miss that job at this time of year! The fact that you get EVERY weekend off in the summer...that's a plus! I loved everything (almost!) about that job, just it's hard to find ways to get it across!”

CK - “I enjoy my job (surprise!). I love working outside and getting a tan, especially because we only work when it is nice out (no rain or wind like you'd get with construction). I love that it is good exercise, and I get muscles. I enjoy feeling productive and being able to see what I have done when I look at a blue field. I enjoy getting the weekends off. I enjoy the public education side of it too- explaining the truths and myths about herbicides to people, which sometimes gives you a chance to work on your diplomacy skills as well (mine might still need some work...)
Plus the money is awesome-
..neither of us would normally apply for a job that required mechanical ability or a farm background. I wouldn't exactly describe myself as mechanically inclined. I know where the gas goes, and that’s about it, but I do ok in the field. I would say that a willingness to learn manual skills would be a more appropriate description.”

CP - You could maybe mention the cohesiveness, pleasantness of the work
environment. everyone in the business from you to other workers becomes friends, very close knit. that is what i liked about working. and the chances to do something different than other jobs. i found it a chance to explore areas i had never been, rural and urban. i just liked that it was a different, sometimes exciting job. just my thoughts.

JM - Hi Ed!! I'm sorry to hear the listing isn't going well yet this year. I know that the labour market is really hot right now and employers are looking for workers everywhere. Some of the things that I enjoyed about the job was being outdoors, getting to see some of the countryside in Alberta, getting acquainted with mechanical skills. It was also great for me to be able to work independently and with a partner, I improved my time management, map reading skills, and defensive driving. The money was also good, with lots of overtime available"
