| Welding Instructor Pirurvik Trades Training Program • The Welding program enrols students in grades 9 through 12. The welding instructor teaches small groups of beginner level students in ARC, MIG, Oxy-Acetylene and plasma cutting. The School seeks to recruit an individual for the school year term from September 1, 2008 to June 30, 2009. Qualifications: • Journey person qualifications in Welding or similar metal working qualifications. • Recent industry experience in Welding or in metal shop work. • Familiarity with Learning Outcomes and curriculum development in Welding is an asset. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with staff, parents and community. • The ability to establish a positive and relaxed learning environment with high expectations for all learners. • The ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with students, staff, parents and the greater community. • Recent successful teaching experience is an asset. • Experience working with youth – including youth at risk- is an asset Knowledge of Inuit language, communities, culture, land and Inuit Qaujimajatugangit is an asset. Equivalencies consisting of education, knowledge, skills and experience will be considered Salary: $40.00/hr (30 hr week) Monday - Friday - Airfare reimbursed upon completion of contract. This position is outside of the Nunavut Teachers Association collective agreement.
