| Environmental Administrator Reporting to the Director of Technical Services, the Environmental Administrators assists in the receipt and distribution of project proposals in accordance with Article 12 of the Nunavut Land Claims Agreement, acting as a first point of contact in the impact assessment process and providing information or directing inquiries, and managing the flow of information pertaining to environmental assessments. Essential Duties and Responsibilities 1. Processes project proposal submissions and ensures receipt of relevant documentation and contact information. 2. Prepares and distributes project proposals and associated correspondence to distribution lists, receiving and compiling comments. 3. Maintain both electronic and paper files associated with projects (public registry and ftp site) and general correspondence. 4. Maintains a tracking system for screenings, review and monitoring, including the tracking of pending and exempted files. 5. Follows procedures and systems for internal and external information flow. 6. Conducts quality assurance on environmental assessment screening and review correspondence. 7. Coordinates and cooperates with all government agencies and departments responsible for processing project proposals to meet established timelines. 8. Provides assistance to project proponents throughout the environmental impact process. 9. Prepares and distributes information packages to the Board for decision making, and distributes NIRB Screening Decisions. 10. Distributes incoming and outgoing correspondence and information associated with projects. Other Duties and Responsibilities 1. Coordinates with federal, territorial and local governments and citizens of Nunavut. 2. Assists staff in coordinating application processes and technical report processes. 3. Provides administrative support to Board and staff as requested and directed. 4. Participates in training and professional development activities in order to enhance workplace skills and knowledge. 5. Any other duties required. Qualifications Knowledge & Skills: - Knowledgeable in matters related to environmental assessment procedures and processes - Knowledge of record management systems for filing and retrieving information - Knowledge of computer software including word processing, database, electronic mail and communications programs - Understands the roles, mandates and authorities of Institutions of Public Government, government agencies, regulatory authorities and Designated Inuit Organizations within Nunavut’s natural resources, lands and environmental management regime Ability: - Efficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, database, internet, ftp, and e-mail - Able to prioritize effectively and meet deadlines - Excellent organizational skills, writing and grammar skills - Excellent verbal skills to respond to enquiries and provide quality customer service - Fluency in a dialect of Inuktitut or Inuinnaqtun is desirable. Education: - Grade 12 diploma or equivalent, supplemented with 2 years experience in a similar position.
