Job Summary To ensure prompt and equitable processing and settlement of moderately complex accident benefit claims in accordance with corporate and legislative standards. Job Responsibilities Interpret insurance contracts, determine policy coverages, establish and adjust reserves in accordance with corporate guidelines. Obtain investigative reports, independent medical examinations were appropriate, statements from insureds/witnesses and other experts as required. To appropriately handle accident benefit claims according to individual authority, knowledge and expertise. Ensure all aspects of the settlement process are handled effectively and within company guidelines. Control litigation files, attend examinations for discovery within the province of Alberta, provide instruction and settlement authority to our solicitors. Monitor workloads and initiate changes required to improve productivity and work flow. Assist with the training of junior adjusters. Assist in resolving claims issues with respect to interpretations, as they relate to the legislation and settlement negotiations. Ensure service levels and quality standards are met by approved experts. Other duties as assigned. Skills/Experience Required/Desired Ideally, 3 - 6 years of experience in the claims adjusting function, including at least one year of accident benefit experience. College or university preparation is preferred, as with a CIP or FCIP designation. Familiarity with current legislation. Ability to interpret standard techniques and practices. Excellent analytical, negotiating and problem-solving skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Please submit salary expecations with application. | |
