Residential Construction On-Site Supervisor

We are a design-build firm operating within the GTA area. We are looking for a Foreperson experience managing basement finishing and/or renovation projects.

1. Terms of Employment: Permanent, Full Time, Day
2. Salary: To be negotiated
3. Anticipated Start Date: 2008/04/01
4. Skill Requirements: 2+ years experience in as a supervisor or manager in a construction environment.
5. Education: Completion of high school, college/CEGEP/vocational or technical training
6. Languages: A strong command of the English language
7. Work Setting: Mostly residential on-site contracting
8. Type of Machinery or Equipment: Small-Mid size engine equipment
9. Work Conditions and Physical Capabilities: Fast-paced environment, Repetitive tasks, physically demanding, Attention to detail, Walking, Driving
10. Work Site Environment: indoors, wet/damp, dusty, noisy
11. Transportation/Travel Information: Vehicle use reimbursed or supplied by employer
12. Essential Skills: Oral communication, Working with others, Problem solving, Job task planning and organizing, and meeting progress deadline, reading text, document use, numeracy, writing, decision making, critical thinking, finding information, resourceful, computer use, continuous learning

Main job responsibilities include:
• Supervise, co-ordinate and schedule the activities of workers who operate heavy equipment
• Requisition of materials and supplies
• Resolve work related problems and recommend measure to improve productivity.
• Supervise and co-ordinate and schedule activities of related apprentices, helpers and labourers.
• Responsible for the quality and productivity of Production personnel and subcontractors.
• Establishes and maintains production standards.
• Assures that the attitude and appearance of the production personnel, vehicles and equipment are maintained at a high level.
• Assures that the job site is maintained, cleaned up each day and upon completion.
• Assures the Safety of the personnel.
• Implements and maintains the safety program.
• Immediately reports any safety incidents.
