| Engineer, Infrastructure Policy, Infrastructure Division The Electricity Division is seeking a Professional Engineer to assist in providing guidance relative to the restructured Alberta electricity industry. This engineering opportunity awaits you in a highly charged, diverse and ever changing business environment that deals with the restructuring and market operation of Alberta’s electricity industry. The position is responsible to provide technical advice and recommendations for public policy and regulation concerning Alberta’s electric infrastructure (generation, transmission, and interconnections). The successful candidate will be required to develop and maintain working relationships with various stakeholders in order to design, advocate, and implement key projects and initiatives, including related legislative and regulatory changes. The successful candidate will possess strong interpersonal, decision-making and negotiation skills to work with stakeholders to achieve competing objectives. The public sector environment, in which this position functions, requires well developed political acumen. Exemplary communication skills are essential to communicate views, make public presentations and to prepare high-quality briefing materials and correspondence on behalf of the Department. This position requires a solid understanding of the electricity industry including the technical aspects of electric generation and transmission infrastructure. Qualifications: A Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical) or equivalent, with eligibility for registration with APEGGA as a Professional Engineer is required. In addition, five years of directly related work experience in the electricity industry is preferred, as well as a working knowledge of the issues in the deregulated electricity industry. Additional studies in economics, regulatory, organizational and business strategy, business law, management science and management information systems are desirable. Strong computer skills (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook) are required. Equivalencies will be considered. | |
