Database Analyst (Direct Marketing)

Major Responsibilities

1. Assist the Marketing team by providing business intelligence and customer data analysis to support marketing and business initiatives.

2. Build (from existing work formats) and execute a variety of queries and reports, including ad hoc requests from a variety of Customer databases and systems.

3. Execute campaigns from a data and list perspective to support catalogue and direct mailing programs.

4. Perform customer selection upload process and mail distribution method planning using campaign management software.

5. Analyze customer spending and behaviors across media, channels, merchandise groups and other customer attributes.

6. Analyze data relating to direct marketing activity (including Relationship Marketing/Data Driven Marketing projects) including pre and post campaign response analysis and ad hoc business opportunity analyses revolving around customer segmentation.

7. Work with external resources for testing, modeling and interpretation of data as required.

8. Create and distribute ongoing reports such as Customer Information Update and Cross Shop reports, as defined by the Media Planning team.

10. Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications:

1. At least 3 years of experience with database marketing, direct marketing, analytics, and/or statistics (or related fields), with at least 2 years of experience in database management, reporting, and in data analysis.
2. University degree in Marketing, Economics, Commerce, or Finance (or related fields).
3. Demonstrated ability to multi-task with attention to detail and ability to meet strict deadlines.
4. Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Access, SQL, SAS and/or similar database software.
5. Demonstrated ability to learn additional software and database applications
6. Demonstrated understanding of Boolean logic, statistics, probability and data hygiene.
7. Experience accessing, manipulating, and analyzing disparate data sources and large-scale databases
8. Demonstrated ability and understanding of analytic procedures and processes.
9. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and spoken).
