| Doc Supervisor Afternoon Shift POSITION SCOPE: The Dock Supervisor, under the supervision of the Operations Manager, performs a variety of tasks to ensure the efficient and effective provision of the Cross-dock operation to meet customer needs. The position requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills; planning, organization and multi-tasking ability; attention to detail; as well as computer skills. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Supervises shift operations on the dock • Accountable for productivity and efficiencies of staff • Ensure compliance with company processes and procedures • Ensures all freight is unloaded and loaded in a safe and timely manner; reports any exceptions to stakeholders. • Maintain regular communication with Customers, planners, dispatch staff regarding service/delivery matters. • Optimizes the use of staff and equipment to meet customer shipping requirements • Provides direct supervision of staff, ensure staff are adequately trained to perform their duties in an effective and safe manner • Ensure efficient operations are maintained by optimizing staff scheduling, availability of efficient and safe equipment, identifying process improvement opportunities, etc • Reports any damage to equipment or shipments, ensuring photographs and reports are completed. • Maintains a clean, organized and safe dock environment • Required to work overtime as needed. QUALIFICATIONS: • Minimum 3 years in the transportation, logistics or distribution sector • Minimum 2 years supervisory experience, preferably in a union environment • Post-secondary education preferred • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills • Self motivated and work well in a team environment • Ability to effectively handle multiple conflicting priorities • Ability to work well under pressure • Good computer skills required • Attention to detail required | |
