| Senior Financial Accountant Job Summary: Provide expert advice and direction to staff and management regarding financial transactions, financial reporting, financial systems, planning and broad financial issues; participate and/or manage and direct accounting/system projects; represent management in defining and communicating financial reporting and internal control requirements on projects or initiatives which have Board wide impact operationally and financially. Knowledge of: 1. Knowledge of accounting practices/principles and theories usually acquired through a recognized university degree and/or professional certification in CA, CMA, CGA. 2. Proficiency in the application and interpretation of accounting/auditing principles and techniques acquired through related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. 3. Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Auditing Standards (GAAP) to identify and advise on financial reporting requirements. 4. Knowledge of system theory and project management to examine controls and control techniques; conduct risk assessment, risk analysis and to provide informed feedback on compliance with internal controls and financial reporting requirements of the Board 5. Knowledge of mainframe computer systems and associated software to access and retrieve information from various financial systems; develop PC software applications for analysis, and reporting of financial information. 6. Knowledge of WSIB organizational structure/operational policies/procedures to ensure financial transactions are properly recorded. 7. Knowledge of WSIB budget system and processes; awareness of current economic trends and other environmental factors and indicators as it applies to the WSIB to forecast/project financial position of the Board. 8. Knowledge of WSIB accounting policies and procedures to provide advice and direction to management and staff on financial issues; to ensure compliance with reporting requirements. 9. Knowledge of relevant sections of WSI Act and regulations, Pension Act, Inter Jurisdictional Agreement, Labour Canada Agreement and any other regulations that impact financial transactions at the Board to ensure compliance. 10. Knowledge of internal/external clients, agencies and their relationship to the Board to assist in the planning process (budget) and to address complex financial issues and questions.
