Area Manager Concrete Reports to: Vice President & General Manager - Concrete Location: Edmonton, Alberta Direct Reports: 5 Responsibilities o Create shareholder value by maximizing profits and ensuring future growth in earnings. o Determine strategic direction for the operation to secure competitive position. o Forecast manpower and facilities requirements. o Challenge employees to improve performance through continuous process improvements. o Recruit, train, develop, supervise and motivate employees in a safe and total quality environment. o Direct and support sales manager in establishing and implementing a marketing and sales strategy. o Ensure effective utilization of the mobile equipment fleet. o Effectively participate in cross-business teams and initiatives towards achievement of Business Unit goals Requirements o Knowledge of concrete products, manufacturing processes, and equipment. o Highly developed interpersonal communication skills with the ability to lead, motivate, and direct o Strong ability to think strategically. o Ability to develop effective relationships with key customers. o Strong organizational and decision-making abilities with sound problem-solving and analytical skills. o Proficiency in Microsoft Office software. o Post Secondary Education in the areas of Engineering, Business or a related field o Masters in Business is an asset 7 to 10 years experience in a management role, preferably in concrete, manufacturing, construction or transportation sector.
