Unix Administrator (AIX)

UNIX administration of Large AIX Shop, working in a Team environment

· Upgrades/installs of server operating systems, performance improvements, monitoring, disaster recovery, scalability planning, networking, and overall process improvements;

· Documenting UNIX servers environments;

· Project delivery including planning, testing, documentation, releases and implementations;

· Migrating applications and databases from server to server;

· Maintaining a Disaster Recovery site/solution;

· Ensuring standardization of UNIX servers;

· Maintaining an SAN storage based Enterprise backup solution;

· Assist in mapping out current and future performance and scalability issues and solutions;

· Help design and implement increased monitoring and performance on server farms;

· Be part of the 24x7 pager rotation.






Must Haves:



- AIX Administration skills

- Minimum of 6-9 years experience as a Unix Systems Administrator (preferably AIX);

- Strong UNIX shell scripting/automation experience (Bourne shell, bash, perl, sed/awk, etc.);

- Experience with IBM HACMP version 4 and version 5;



MUST HAVE: experience with Hitachi and Nseries/Network Appliance SAN environments;

- IBM series (p630, p650, p570, p590) P5 and P6 architecture and HMC configuration;

- Thorough knowledge and understanding of UNIX characteristics and limitations, including standard daemons, protocols, and applications;

- Knowledge of UNIX system/Network performance issues; Knowledge of IP networking Concepts;

- Experience with the following is a plus: Webmethods, Websphere Application server and Oracle database server, SFTP protocols,

- MUST HAVE: SAN EXPERIENCE with either: Hitachi Storage, Nseries Storage;

- Ability to plan, document, install and effectively implement complex server software across Servers;

- Ability to diagnose server and network problems effectively to resolve issues;

- Strong understanding of ITIL and change implementation methodology
