| Certified Master Electrician Position Summary: A Certified Master Electrician is required to obtain electrical permits throughout the Province of Alberta when necessary for internal company or customer projects. All tender documentation must be completed in accordance with company guidelines. The incumbent will produce designs, cost estimates and quotes for orders in a timely and accurate manner, liaising and coordinating with internal departments; report and follow up on tenders and estimates as required; develop and maintain in-house estimating procedures and records. Hand-on electrical work will be required for various internal and customer projects. It is expected that the incumbent will train others where possible. Position available in Edmonton or Grande Prairie. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Provide material costs, man-hours per unit, and total installed cost of all common electrical work including conduit, wire, boxes, fixtures, switches, outlets, load centers, panel boards, raceway, duct, signal systems and more. Estimate the cost of electrical systems in buildings. Provide the ability to change the price or quantity as required, add markups as defined by Marketing. • Work with Accounting to turn estimates into invoices. • Track job costs, compare estimated and actual costs for each part of any job, and provide reporting for each job. • Obtain permits from various regulatory bodies so that electrical work can be performed. • Establish a quality management program to ensure that each job is completed safely and to meet or exceed municipal code standards. • Perform appropriate escalations to resolve issues and exceed service levels, thereby meeting and exceeding PCC Communications SLO/SLA commitments. • Act as the SPOC and first line of escalation for all electrical issues for customer installations. • Perform electrical work for PCC's Tower and POP sites. • Provide thorough documentation of issues, and resolutions; use this documentation to provide enhanced service to customers and to prevent the issues from reoccurring in the future. • Continually modify and enhance internal processes and support systems to meet the changing role and needs of PCC Communications. Take an active role in the identification of business requirements for support systems that will be used within the group. • Sign off orders and repairs as complete once the status is verified with the customers. • Issue weekly, monthly, or as required reports on results, along with analysis identifying chronic problem areas and initiate action plans to resolve the issues. • Train apprentices and PCC Field Technicians to correctly perform electrical work. • Provide advice and mentoring to PCC staff on electrical or grounding related installations. • Travel to other PCC locations to provide estimating and electrical work support. • Overtime may be required at times. • Some in-house work for PCC’s manufacturing area may be required. • Must be willing to travel often • Commercial work • Other duties as required. Experience and Educational Requirements: • Certified Master Electrician designation • Minimum 10 years experience • Ability to pull permits in all areas of Alberta • Extensive experience on major construction projects • Experience in estimating, formulating pricing and preparing tender and customer submissions • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communications • Demonstrated commitment to delivery of superior customer service • Ability to manage and prioritize a large number of key activities • Ability to work with minimal supervision • Ability to work in an environment where there is pressure from multiple directions, each with different priorities yet all directed towards meeting customer commitments • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills • Aptitude and desire to continually look at and be able to recognize areas that can be improved upon and take appropriate action • Demonstrated decision-making ability. | |
