Principal Process Engineer (MY CJ)

The Principal Process Engineer will be responsible for the following areas:

- Works with and supports the Director of Technology to develop the competencies of the Process group and represents the Director in his absence.
- Develop and maintain Process standards, workflows, budgets and schedules that match the project requirements
- Develop and manage the project Process group to meet budgets and schedules
- Ensure that the Process deliverables meet internal and client standards and are available to other disciplines in a timely manner
- Make decisions and recommendations that are recognized as authoritative and have an important impact on extensive engineering activities.
- Initiate and maintain extensive contacts with key engineers and officials of other organizations and companies, requiring skill in persuasion and negotiation of critical issues.
- Accountable for process performance specifications for all process equipment.
- Ensures commitment of the project to safety in design.
- Responsible for the operability and safety of plants within their scope of supervision.
- Monitor the scope, quality, sequence, interface and limits of responsibility
between various engineering disciplines and project support groups.
- Monitor the schedule for opportunities to improve while maintaining quality.
- Provides support for inter-discipline reviews.
- Provides effective coaching on as-needed basis.
- Identifies training needs.

The successful candidate possesses the following skills and qualifications:

- 10-15 years of experience in a similar role with an EPC company. Some experience in starting up or operating plants is viewed as favorable.
- In-depth knowledge of appropriate technologies in bitumen extraction, oil & gas or mineral processing.
- Proficiency in engineering methods, standards, codes, regulations, procedures and practices.
- Ability to develop standards and guides for diverse Process Engineering activities.
- A focus on Quality, Operability and Safety.
- Creativity, foresight and mature engineering judgment in anticipating and solving unprecedented engineering problems.
- Proven past performance in evaluation and selection of overall processing schemes. Capability to development of new processes or processing schemes as required.
- Proficiency in establishing process performance guarantees including negotiations with Clients and Licensors.
- Effective delegation of tasks and responsibilities.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- APEGGA registration (or eligibility for registration)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Strong Hysys and Pro/II or other process engineering software skills
- PHA-Pro6 is an asset
