Product Development Specialist - Beverages.

Reporting to the Manager, Product Development, this position directs the development process of new beverage products for national brands and raw materials. Also acts as a resource person and specialist for product specification, formulations and recipes.

Qualifications:

3-5 years in product/beverage,development or manufacturing.
University Degree or College Diploma in Food Science or Nutrition is preferred.
Strong communication, project management and multi taking skills.
Preferred experience working in beverage development and food or baking science background.
Excellent bench skills as it relates to beverage products.
Intermediate knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel) and Lotus Notes.
Effective leadership skills.
Travel is required.
Key Responsibilities:

Develops, enhances and formulates new and existing beverages.
Makes recommendations pertaining to new policies and procedures relating to the product development department.
Liaises with all departments and franchisees during the development of new beverages.
Assists in the development of production manuals detailing recipes and preparation of beverages.
Prepares and makes new and existing beverages for various meetings, advertising campaigns, training sessions, sensory panels etc.
Together with the Operations Training Team, conducts training sessions for Regional and District Managers and Store Owners for new national brand beverages.
Provides technical information related to beverages for complaint investigations.
Conducts occasional store visits to aid in beverages training.
Maintains a proper statistical recording of all samples, testing and complaints in order to administer the beverage development program.
Assists in the development and tracking of beverages test markets.
Works with 2nd suppliers to match existing beverages.
Ensuring beverages are operationally sound prior to introducing concept to R&D management.
Testing of new equipment to ensure specifications and quality standards are met and adhered to.
Provide test market and national roll-out support.
Works closely with Marketing and Purchasing to ensure all beverages developed are rolled into store operations with all company parameters met.
