Financial Analyst - Growing Organization

Our client in Downtown Vancouver is seeking an experienced Financial Analyst! Do you love to be the advocate for financial and business solutions to senior management and stakeholders? This role will utilize your top-notch financial analysis, problem solving, organizational and communication skills in a great team environment.

Responsibilities:

- Prepares, coordinates, and analyzes monthly, quarterly and year-end financial reporting packages for internal and external use; Documents business processes and internal controls over financial reporting
- Develops, evaluates, implements and tests approved complex and/or major new or revised accounting policies, procedures, routines and systems; Participates in determination of appropriate accounting treatment for specialized or complex transactions; Performs research to stay current on accounting and reporting requirements
- Participates in the remittance and reporting of all taxes including PST, GST and commodity taxes
- Analyzes and assesses business and financial risks, opportunities and requirements; Develops and presents recommendations, project proposals, budgets, business cases, and/or proposed feasibility studies and/or pilots for assigned studies and projects
- Prepares, presents and acts as an expert advocate for financial and business solutions to senior management, working groups or committees; Explains recommendations and guides clients to adopt the most prudent and efficient financial and business solution(s); Acts as a subject matter expert or acts as a primary work contact to external auditors
- Responds to a variety of enquiries from senior management, regulatory authorities and the government; Provides technical direction and/or training to management and lower level financial accounting workers and project team members
- Designs presentation packages for senior management. Participates in, or coordinates work teams and work to control and coordinate studies or projects. Takes responsibility for and reports on project progress

Knowledge and Qualifications:

- Solid knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and the CICA handbook
- CMA, CA, CGA or MBA plus related degree and 5 years experience as a junior Financial Analyst
- Experience in Financial accounting and analysis, evaluations, studies, policies, procedures,
- Tax and other finance and accounting related legislation
- Cost and/or billing and revenue accounting procedures
- Financial evaluation, statistical, modeling and advanced analytical methods and tools
- Experience with and knowledge of common business and auditing practices, procedures and financial management, reporting principles and systems
- GST, PST, Customs, duties, commodity taxes
- Management planning, budgeting, forecasting, policies, procedures, systems, financial
- systems administration and system development methods
- Management or performance reporting methods and procedures
