| Construction Compliance Specialist CONSTRUCTION COMPLIANCE SPECIALIST 9.4.07 Working with an energetic, talented and committed team in the System Safety Office, you will be required to monitor, coordinate and prioritize on-site construction inspection activities/resources to ensure a safe and sound environment; and to protect all employees, customers, the general public, and corporate assets present at the construction site. This position is responsible for ensuring that the corporate construction safety program minimizes the liability of the corporation to the lowest acceptable level; conducting assurance programs to identify deficiencies in corporate management programs and to recommend corrective actions, programs will include internal system safety audits, accident investigations, quality checks, design reviews, and system safety certifications; and ensuring the corporate System Safety Construction Program is applied to all projects. Location: 20 Bay Street, Toronto Qualifications: Advanced knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety Act, Environmental Science, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical Standards/Codes normally attained through the completion of a technology related college diploma, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Minimum four (4) years’ experience gained in heavy construction safety, industrial safety, fire/life safety, system safety or loss prevention is required. Good working knowledge of transportation works and ability to interpret specifications and blueprints. Thorough knowledge of and the ability to interpret relevant construction safety and environmental legislation, statutes and codes. Excellent oral and written communications skills, including the ability to deal with internal/external unionized service providers. Must be decisive and have ability to make sound decisions in daily work and emergency situations. Ability to deliver effective training sessions and to represent “our” position to external governmental and related industry contacts. Must be able to successfully complete WHMIS, TDG, spills response, and standard first aid programs, as well as environmental, safety and any other training required by corporate policy.
