Lifeguard/Instuctor Comunity Recreation Association (CRA)

Under the supervision of Aquatics Coordinator, the Lifeguard/Instructor performs lifeguard duties, enrols participants in programs and provides assistance as needed. Prepares lesson plans and instructs patrons in swimming, life saving, water safety programs, and other areas as required. In the event of an emergency, provides the necessary first aid. Conducts Aquasize classes if qualified. He/she opens and closes the aquatic facility, ensures the safety of all participants while in the pool and assists in maintaining the pool office, pool deck and storage areas in a neat and tidy manner. Maintains good public relations with patrons and staff.

Casual position for up to 13 hours a week.

Qualifications:

-High school diploma AND some experience.
OR
-An acceptable combination of education, training and experience will also be considered.
AND
-Current National Lifeguard Service Certificate (NLS) qualifications
-Current CPRC and Basic First Aid or Aquatic Emergency Care (AEC)
-Current Red Cross Instructor certification
-Current Bronze Cross qualification
-Lifesaving Instructor (LSI) qualification an asset
