| Software Engineering Manager JOB ID: 120112-TIT This is a job posting for Victoria, BC Summary It’s a challenging job and we’re looking for an amazing person to fill it. We are seeking someone who is passionate about providing great leadership and who possesses deep technical skills. Someone who is comfortable resolving ambiguity and making the right choices to deliver working software on time, someone who can help their team find the right balance of business necessity and technical and operational excellence. Responsibilities - Leading an software development team to build and operate features including product search, inventory management and the website UI - Becoming a domain expert for your team’s products, features and technology - Hiring, developing, and motivating a great engineering team - Contributing to the technical vision, strategy, and product roadmap for - Recognizing and removing technical, organizational and project roadblocks for your team - Interfacing with a diverse customer base to understand their needs, priorities, and processes - Proposing and implementing new features and system improvements - Developing relationships to support your team’s activities - Prioritizing the work of your team, and building product timelines and roadmaps Requirements - 5+ years experience in Software development - 2+ years as a Development Manager or Team Lead - BS/MS degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, or equivalent experience - Demonstrated passion for customer experience and usability - Strong verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated technical leadership - Experience in the development and architecture of distributed/scalable/fault tolerant systems and high-volume transaction applications - Ability to handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced, results driven environment - Familiar with Linux (Or Unix) environment - Experience in testing and a passion for producing high quality code - Understanding of relational databases, relational modeling and SQL (Oracle/MySQL) - Agile practices and methodologies such as Test Driven Development and Scrum - Experience leading software development life cycle using appropriate processes and best practices - An understanding of OO design patterns and programming (Java preferred) - Proficiency with client side With Ares Staffing our process ensures the company fits your needs, and vice versa.
