Our Client:
Our cllient makes equity investment partnerships available with the objective of promoting the economic development, skills and financial opportunities of the Métis people of Manitoba by providing capital funding to Métis-owned businesses.

The Opportunity:
Reporting to the General Manager, the Office Manager is a unique hybrid of administrative support and project management. As such, the position requires a broad skill set of administration as well as financial management, business development, and market and industry research. The Office Manager will be responsible for 2 key areas:
Administration: provide administrative support to the General Manager which will include normal reception duties (both in person and via telephone), file maintenance, preparation of board packages, inventory control, photocopying and other related duties. Specifically, the Office Manager will:
¬ Work closely with the accountant to monitor financial activity and operating expenses.
¬ Take a lead role in the design and development of Annual Reports.
¬ Assist in the design of corporate forms, brochures, posters and other marketing and promotional materials.
¬ Develop and administer records and inventory of assets.
¬ Coordinate all planning for Board of Directors meetings (travel, accommodations, catering, room set up, etc.)
¬ Answer telephones and direct calls as appropriate. Photocopying, faxing and other related duties.
¬ Maintain files and company inventory.
¬ Prepare and update PowerPoint presentations as directed by management.
¬ Attend MEDF Board of Directors meetings and record and transcribe minutes.
¬ Assist General Manager with direct follow up as needed on all Board decisions, motions and action items.

Project Management (Business Development): assist the General Manager with developing and maintaining strong relationships with other Funding Agencies, MMF Regions and Locals, federal and provincial government officials and private sector organizations. The Office Manager will be aware of economic development activity, major projects and other opportunities for the MEDF and Métis individuals in the province of Manitoba and make the General Manager aware of this information through timely reporting. Specifically, the Office Manager will:
¬ Accept client funding enquiries.
¬ Provide information on MEDF programming and other programs and agencies assisting Métis businesses in Manitoba.
¬ Maintain a record of funding enquiries.
¬ Undertake initial screening of applications requesting additional information in written form.
¬ Assist the General Manager with research into potential industry sector investment opportunities.
¬ Assist the General Manager with a thorough review of the business plan and completion of thorough credit analysis.
¬ Assist in marketing and promotion of MEDF whenever deemed appropriate by management.

The Ideal Candidate:
As the ideal candidate, you possess exceptional interpersonal and communication skills. In addition, you possess 5+ years previous experience in a similar role which includes the ability to read and understand business plans and financial statements. Previous Project Management and/or Business Development experience in required. As the Office Manager you are a team player with a sounds working knowledge of Microsoft Office. Experience with accounting software is required and knowledge of QuickBooks is a definite asset.
