| Accounting Specialist We are currently looking for an Accounting Specialist. Reporting to the Management Team, you will perform a wide variety of accounting and bookkeeping functions to complete full cycle accounts payable and accounts receivable duties, and create monthly management reports, accurately and in a timely manner. Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to: •Meet with Management regularly to receive instructions and deliver reports. •Record invoices and other entries in the accounting system •Manage all aspects of projects’ financial performance, ensuring project data is accurate and correct; prepare accurate and timely invoices with Project Managers in accordance with contract specifications •Create, amend, and maintain project, vendor and supplier accounts •Monitor all accounts receivable balances to ensure timely payment •Review and process consultant invoices; consult with customers and clients upon management direction to process and resolve issues regarding invoicing and accounts payable •Perform analysis of financial information and preparation of various monthly, quarterly, and year-end reports, including ad hoc requests as needed; forecasting reports, financial statements •Aid in consolidation of month end and year end reporting •Assist external Tax Accountant by providing reports and supporting documentation;review tax returns and ensure payments are processed •Assist Auditors by preparing required documentation, maintain files and support documents for audits •Review insurance requirements of projects and provide required documentation for contracts •Processing of government remittances and professional membership payments (GST,WSIB, etc) to maintain compliance and be in good standing •Review new employee paperwork and liaises with Payroll to ensure information in accurate and updates personnel files as necessary •Ensure thorough knowledge of Quickbooks and MS Excel to ensure accounting procedures are being utilized effectively and efficiently •Evaluate, recommend, and implement internal control and process modifications to improve accounting systems and procedures •Comply with all company policies and procedures The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree or Accounting Diploma from an approved university or college; 3+ years experience in general accounting and a strong foundation in accounting principles and guidelines; expert knowledge in Quick books, Excel and other MS Office products; able to adapt to changing priorities; excellent verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail and strong organizational skills, work with a sense of urgency to meet deadlines, and have the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff, clients, and vendors. This role is ideal for an individual who is willing to be hands-on and showcase their tactical and strategic thinking to make accounting information relevant to Directors and Project Managers. | |
