Coordinator, Client Eligibility and Complaints

If you enjoy being involved in legal work, but prefer not to work at a law firm – been there, done that - here is a great opportunity to apply your administrative, research and legal skills in a rewarding, non-profit environment. In this challenging full-time role based downtown, you will act as a key resource to applicants, legal representatives, internal departmental staff and other interested parties.

In coordinating the complaints process in consultation with investigative staff and lawyers, your impartiality will be called upon as you review applications, assess financial eligibility, and communicate findings and approved decisions. Strong verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills are required as you will be responding to emails; inquiries from the bar, other offices and complainants; preparing memorandums and summary reports; and discussing sensitive and difficult issues with clients.

Your composure and strong organizational skills will be needed to effectively manage the complex demands of this position. Additionally, you will be able to type at least 55 wpm; have advanced proficiency in MS Word; be familiar with Outlook and have good numerical ability. Legal secretarial training, a grade 12 education and 2 or more years of related work experience should also be part of your qualifications.

This employer has retained many long-term employees who are compassionate by nature and committed to helping others. While the work itself has its intrinsic rewards, this organization offers 4 weeks vacation to start; a superior benefits package, including a defined-benefit pension plan; a modified workweek schedule; and the opportunity to participate in a multitude of employer-sponsored wellness and training initiatives. The pay for this position starts in the high $30’s range with incremental pay increases up to the low $40’s level. The starting salary would depend on qualifications, but typically would be at about $38,000 per year.

Please apply immediately if you are interested in this opportunity to be part of an independent non-profit organization that receives most of its funding from the provincial government. Thank you for wanting to partner with Vertical Bridge to support your job search efforts.
